Non-Executive Director Programme
If you’re currently a Non-Executive Director (NED) with experience and willing to contribute your skills to help Guernsey’s vibrant and diverse charitable sector then please get in touch.
If you have aspirations to become a NED and would like gain valuable experience while giving back to the community the GTA’s NED Development programme could be right for you.
The Programme enables its participants to benefit from a 12 month board placement with additional support from a dedicated mentor. Non-Executive Directors can add significant value to an organisation, especially in the third sector, and this programme seeks to diversify and develop the next generation of local NEDs with a transfer of knowledge and skills from partner boards.

Give your time to volunteering
Volunteer.gg is Guernsey’s central online portal for volunteering, run by the Association of Guernsey Charities and supported by the Foundation. It allows charities to upload information about one-off events and long-term opportunities for volunteers to get involved. Volunteer.gg is great for finding hands-on opportunities across a wide range of charities, especially for first-time or casual volunteers.If you have specific skills that you would like to offer, or you are looking for a long-term role within a charity that matches your interests, read on to find out more about our Volunteer Matching Programme.
Volunteer Matching Programme
We are proud to run a Volunteer Matching Programme which connects skilled volunteers from professional backgrounds to charities who would benefit from their skills. We welcome volunteers who want to provide pro bono advice or support to charities, as well as people interested in joining boards and committees to help voluntary organisations develop at a strategic level.
Getting involved in the charitable sector through our Volunteer Matching Programme is a great way for individuals and organisations to demonstrate a commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. A placement as secretary, chair or treasurer of a local charity offers a great development opportunity for ambitious and talented mid-career professionals who want to apply their skills and insights to new challenges; or an opportunity for successful senior leaders to give back to their community. Matching volunteers’ skills with charities’ needs, we aim to create fulfilling long-term connections across the voluntary and business sectors on Guernsey.
We are always looking for people with accountancy, secretarial and communication skills, as well as strategic thinkers who are looking to help at committee level.

The Guernsey Community Foundation works to ensure that charitable funding and donations reach the areas that need it the most, by funding charities that have an effective service model, and that are tackling clearly-identified community needs. We provide a range of services to private individuals and families, and to corporations, who want to contribute to our island community through philanthropy.

The Guernsey Community Foundation operates an endowment fund into which benefactors can make one-off donations.
Once the fund reaches an appreciable size, it will generate income and capital gains for distribution to local charities via the Foundation’s Grants Programme. This extra injection of funds in the Programme will allow the Foundation to give charities support over a sustained period, enabling them to focus on the delivery of core services.
The Foundation’s investment policy (20210226 Endowment Fund investment strategy and ToR_FINAL.docx) gives more information about the operation of the Fund and the sub-committee that will look after it on behalf of the board.
