Nominations for the 2017 Community Awards now open

The Guernsey Community Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Community Awards.

The event, now in its seventh year, celebrates excellence in the charitable and voluntary sectors, with awards in seven categories:

  • Charity of the Yearsponsored by State Street
  • Fundraising Team of the Yearsponsored by Cazenove Capital
  • Outstanding Individual Achievementsponsored by PwC Channel Islands
  • Innovation Awardsponsored by Specsavers
  • Organising Committee of the Yearsponsored by RG Falla
  • CSR Awardsponsored by RBC Wealth Management
  • Youth Awardsponsored by Guernsey Electricity

Jim Roberts, the Chief Executive of the Guernsey Community Foundation, said:

“This is a great opportunity for local charities – and businesses supporting those charities – to get the recognition they deserve.

“This year we’re hoping for a record number of nominations, so if you know of a local charity or a volunteer that deserves an award, complete a nomination form and put them in the running.

“We accept self-nominations, too, so if you’re a business who goes that extra mile in terms of corporate social responsibility, or a fundraising team that’s knocked it out the park, get in touch. The more nominations we receive, the more we can make the Awards representative of the entire charitable sector.”

Andrew Thompson, Head of Custody at State Street, Guernsey, said:

“State Street is proud to have been the principal sponsor of the Guernsey Community Awards since the inaugural event in 2011.

“The unique style and inclusivity of the Community Awards evening has not only helped it become an eagerly anticipated occasion in Guernsey’s events calendar, but it has provided a platform that gives a significant level of positive exposure to the wide variety of work undertaken by the island’s charitable sector and the dedicated individuals who support them.

“This event helps to highlight and place focus on the important work this sector undertakes for our community and State Street is very proud to be a part of it.”

Nomination forms and full criteria can be downloaded from the Community Awards website: Hard copies can be requested by email or post by contacting [email protected], or by calling Sadie Siviter de Paucar on 748056. Sadie is also available to help with the nomination process.

The Awards ceremony takes place on Tuesday 31 October. The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 13 September.
